Poem about the opportunistic politicisation of the Coronoavirus pandemic by The Left

When we say that every crisis is also an opportunity

Do you think we don’t know

That we are building our better future

On the bodies of those who won’t make it to the other end

What comfort it would be if we knew

That every one of the dead had cried

“Don’t mourn, organise” with their dying breath

But we know that most will be crying only

For their loved ones who they will never see again

Who will not hold their hand as they slip away

To be buried in a mass grave.

Do you think we don’t know

That some of us have hugged our parents for the last time too

We would not have chosen to pay this price.

And even if we grow a better future out of this

It will not bring back the dead who will have still died for nothing

When we say that every crisis is also an opportunity

Understand that politics is not a game to us. We are not gamblers.

We are trying to build a new world out of the ashes

We never wanted the old world to burn in the first place
